I am a PhD student in the economics department at UCSB. I hold a BA and MA in economics from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. My research interests include labor and migration economics, environmental economics and development. My current research examines whether climate change related shocks affect household decision-making in developing countries. Particularly I investigate if ENSO (El Niño and la Niña) events induce households to migrate within Colombia. I try to establish what are the characteristics of those migrating and where are they migrating to. Moreover, what are the effects of these movements on labor markets throughout the country?
